The Hongzhou Academy draws its inspiration from the rich cultural history of its location. The design pays homage to ancient Chinese architecture, with aluminum plates connected by buckles to create a unique brick texture on the facade. The smooth, arc-shaped curved surface outlines the skyline of the building, reminiscent of the eaves curve of ancient Chinese buildings.
As a sales center, the Hongzhou Academy serves multiple functions, including negotiation, handwork, children's activity space, and display. The building is strategically located at an intersection, with two typical blocks facing the urban road. These blocks shape the building, and the displaced part forms the entrance square, adding to the building's unique aesthetic appeal.
The choice of materials played a significant role in the realization of this design. After comparing the effect and cost of various materials, the design team opted for aluminum sheets for the roof. This decision not only ensured the building's durability but also contributed to the overall aesthetic appeal of the design.
One of the challenges faced by the design team was avoiding the glue layer on the facade. To overcome this, architects designed a gusset plate unit using aluminum to ensure the tone of the grey facade. The result is a building that not only stands out for its architectural brilliance but also for its innovative use of materials.
The Hongzhou Academy is more than just a commercial building. Its large glass areas allow people to enjoy the external scenery, while the high atrium increases the width of the space, creating a comfortable purchasing environment. Whether one is there for business or leisure, the building offers a unique experience that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
In conclusion, the Hongzhou Academy is a shining example of how traditional architecture can be revived and reimagined in a modern context. Its unique design, which merges the old with the new, has not only earned it a prestigious award but also made it a landmark in Nanchang County. It stands as a testament to Feng Cheng's innovative design approach and his commitment to preserving cultural heritage through architecture.
